The Story Behind A La KArt Creations
Hi, I'm Kitti - the founder, maker and the person who'll personally handle your order from start to finish.
Originally from Hungary, I moved to the UK in 2009 with a deep love for nature, gardening and everything that grows. What started as a passion for watercolour florals and botanical design eventually became something I never expected - a business built entirely around making stationery that gives back to the planet.
How It All Started
In 2017 I began painting watercolour florals and botanical designs, pairing them with calligraphy to create greeting cards for weddings, birthdays and special occasions. People loved them, and word spread quickly through Instagram. But something niggled at me - beautiful as they were, my cards were ending up in the bin.
When lockdown arrived in 2020 it gave me the space to think. I wanted to create something more meaningful. Something that didn't just look beautiful but actually did something good once it left my hands.
That's when I discovered seed paper.
The Seed Paper That Changed Everything
I tried every seed paper I could find. Most were too thick, too thin, or the seeds simply didn't grow. Then I found the one - and I haven't looked back since.
Our seed paper is exclusive to A La KArt Creations. Made fresh every month in the UK from 100% recycled cotton pulp, it's embedded with over 20 varieties of native UK wildflower seeds - carefully selected to support bees, butterflies and pollinators. Every batch is tested before production begins. Sprouts appear in as little as 7 days. We've been perfecting it for over 5 years.
Supporting pollinators and reducing paper waste is at the heart of everything we do here. As bee populations continue to decline, every piece of plantable seed paper stationery we send out is a small act of resistance - one wildflower garden at a time.
Taking the Leap
In June 2022 I left my career as a Senior Marketing Executive to run A La KArt Creations full time. It was a big decision - but the right one. My husband James supported me every step of the way and helped build the foundations of what the business is today.
I now run A La KArt Creations solo, handling everything personally - from designing and printing to quality checking every single order before it leaves my Kent studio. That personal attention is something a big print company simply can't offer, and it's something I'm genuinely proud of.
Where We Are Today
Based in Kent, we work with small businesses, eco-conscious brands, and couples across the UK. Our plantable seed paper business cards, eco-friendly wedding stationery, soap labels, candle dust covers, swing tags and wildflower packaging filler are all handmade in small batches - never mass produced.
In early 2024 we launched our eco-friendly wedding stationery range, which has quickly become one of the most exciting parts of the business. I regularly attend wedding fairs across Kent and am proud to be a recommended stationery supplier for wedding venues across the region - trusted by couples who want their big day to leave a beautiful mark on the planet, not just a paper trail.
What's Coming Next
The future of A La KArt Creations is growing - in every sense of the word. I'm expanding the wedding stationery range with new designs and collections, taking on more clients and continuing to develop products that prove sustainable stationery doesn't mean compromise.
