Carbon Footprint

Carbon Reduction Plan for A La KArt Creations

1. Commitment to Carbon Reduction

A La KArt Creations is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with its operations. As a small UK-based business, our environmental impact is modest in scale; however, we recognise the importance of monitoring, managing and reducing emissions in line with national Net Zero targets.

Carbon reduction forms part of our broader sustainability commitment.

2. Business Overview

A La KArt Creations operates as a small, home-based stationery business within the United Kingdom. All design, printing and order fulfilment are carried out in-house. Production is strictly made to order.

There are no retail premises, company-owned vehicles, or industrial manufacturing facilities.

3. Emissions Profile

The primary sources of emissions associated with the business are:

Scope 1 emissions are minimal, as no direct fuel combustion or company vehicles are used.

Scope 2 emissions arise from electricity consumption for printing equipment, computers and lighting within the studio environment.

Scope 3 emissions include raw material production, UK courier services, supplier transport, and packaging materials.

Because our seed paper is manufactured in the UK from recycled cotton textile waste, emissions associated with virgin pulp production and overseas freight are significantly reduced.

A formal baseline carbon footprint assessment is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 to allow for measurable tracking of reductions.

4. Existing Carbon Reduction Measures

Several reduction measures are already integrated into daily operations.

4.1 All core materials are sourced and manufactured within the United Kingdom, limiting transportation emissions.

4.2 Seed paper is produced from recycled cotton textile waste, reducing landfill contribution and avoiding emissions linked to virgin paper production.

4.3 Printing is completed in-house, eliminating transport between third-party print suppliers.

4.4 Production is made to order, preventing overproduction and unnecessary resource use.

4.5 Water-based, eco-friendly inks are used across all products.

4.6 Ink coverage on plantable items is intentionally limited to support germination and reduce material use.

4.7 Packaging is plastic-free wherever possible and kept minimal.

4.8 Paper offcuts are reused as packaging filler to prevent waste.

5. Reduction Targets

The business commits to the following actions:

5.1 To complete a measurable carbon baseline assessment by the end of 2026.

5.2 To monitor electricity usage and improve efficiency per order where practical.

5.3 To maintain exclusive UK sourcing to avoid international freight emissions.

5.4 To expand the use of recycled and waste-derived paper materials.

5.5 To continue operating under a made-to-order production model.

Once baseline data has been established, measurable percentage reduction targets will be introduced.

6. Future Initiatives

Future reduction initiatives under review include exploring renewable electricity supply options, assessing courier providers with clear carbon reduction commitments, and expanding the eco-conscious paper range to include 100% recycled and recycled coffee-based materials.

Carbon literacy and ongoing environmental education will also be considered as the business grows.

7. Monitoring and Review

This Carbon Reduction Plan will be reviewed annually. Data collection methods will be refined as the business develops to ensure meaningful measurement and transparency.

Carbon reduction is approached as a continuous process of improvement, proportionate to the size and structure of the business.
