Because you understand what goes into it - the late nights, the test batches, the packaging decisions, the moment where you're not sure if it's quite good enough yet. Shopping small means something different when you're a small business yourself.
I've been lucky enough to get to know a handful of female founders through a small business community we're all part of, and as we head into gift season, I wanted to shine a light on what they make. These are women who put something of themselves into their work. That comes through in the product every time.

Lorna built SuperDinky from her own experience on a neonatal unit, and every product reflects that - organic fabrics, clothing designed around the actual realities of neonatal care rather than just smaller versions of standard babywear. What I think deserves more attention is the Parcel of Hope: a subscription that funds beautifully wrapped gifts sent to NICU families on significant days throughout the year. You don't need to know someone going through it to take part. You just need to want to. For less than the cost of a coffee a month, it's the kind of small action that genuinely reaches someone at the right moment.

Since we're talking gifts, I'd be doing us both a disservice if I didn't mention our 2027 plantable seed paper calendars.
